India Lags Behind in Theatre Infrastructure

Aamir pointed out that India has only 10,000 cinema screens, while the United States has around 40,000 and China has nearly 90,000. Considering that India has a larger population than both countries, this shortage is alarming.

According to him, because of this gap, even well-made films often reach only about 2% of the Indian population. In many districts and remote areas, there are no cinemas at all, or only a very limited number, which keeps millions of potential moviegoers from experiencing films on the big screen.

Aamir Khan’s Suggestion for Growth

Aamir urged for greater investment in building more theatres across India. He emphasized that India is a movie-loving country, but the lack of theatres is holding back the audience from enjoying films the way they should.

Apart from Aamir, several top Indian film personalities also participated in the summit. Stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Allu Arjun, and Deepika Padukone shared their insights on topics such as global reach, physical fitness, and the art of storytelling.
