Housefull 5, the latest film in the popular comedy franchise, finally hit theatres on 6th June 2025. Produced once again by Sajid Nadiadwala, this movie was highly anticipated due to the franchise’s past success. But the big question is—does it bring laughter or disappointment?

The Confusing Storyline
The film begins aboard a gigantic ship, which strangely includes everything—even a jail. This ship is owned by Ranjeet Dobrial, who dies unexpectedly. He leaves behind a hologram message revealing that his real son, Jolly, will soon arrive, and his stepson Dev (played by Fardeen Khan) must hand over all the property to him.
Here’s the twist: three men show up claiming to be Jolly.

All three claim to be the real heir, creating chaos. Dev, confused and frustrated, orders DNA tests to find the truth.
While the three Jollys enjoy themselves on the ship, a major twist unfolds—a murder. The doctor conducting the DNA tests is killed during a party.

Enter the Cops
Two officers arrive to solve the mystery—Baba (Jackie Shroff) and Bhiddu (Sanjay Dutt). After a brief investigation, they arrest all three Jollys and throw them into the ship’s jail.
The big mystery now is—who actually killed the doctor? That forms the central plot moving forward.
Why Housefull 5 Fails to Entertain
The franchise began in 2010 and earned love for its light-hearted humor. However, Housefull 5 lacks the magic of its predecessors.
The weakest point of the movie is undoubtedly its story, written by Farhad Samji. Known for past hits like Simmba and Housefull 3, Farhad’s recent scripts (including Bachchan Pandey and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan) haven’t been well received, and unfortunately, this film follows the same path.
The twists in the plot feel forced and unnatural, thrown in just to confuse or stretch the runtime.
Who Manages to Entertain?
Despite the messy story, Akshay Kumar still manages to bring a few genuine laughs, though the comedy falls far short of classics like Hera Pheri or Bhagam Bhag. Other actors do their best, but poor writing and weak dialogues hold them back.
Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and Sanjay Dutt all appear in police roles, but their performances come across as loud and overdone, possibly due to exaggerated direction.
Dino Morea barely gets any dialogue, while the actresses seem to be cast mainly for glamour, offering very little substance to the film.
Even in terms of visual appeal, the movie fails to impress.
Production Quality: High Budget, Poor Execution
Sajid Nadiadwala invested heavily in locations, costume design, and production value. Bringing together 19 big stars is a huge achievement, and in this regard, he deserves credit.
However, where the film truly fails is in execution and direction. Tarun Mansukhani, the director, fails to bring the chaotic story together. The result? A film that runs for 2 hours and 55 minutes, feeling more like a test of patience than a comedy.
Final Verdict
Housefull 5 is a 2 hour and 55 minute disappointment filled with forced jokes, confusing storytelling, and underwhelming performances. It had the potential to be an epic comedy with its massive star cast, but ends up being a missed opportunity.
Audiences expecting a laugh riot will likely leave the theatre disappointed and exhausted.
If you’re planning to watch Housefull 5, prepare yourself—not for comedy, but for a long and loud ride that fails to entertain.
