A Riveting Crime Thriller

Neeraj Pandey’s Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is an intense crime thriller that keeps viewers hooked. It has sharp writing, unexpected twists, and a gripping storyline. However, a few weak performances stop it from being a perfect show. Despite that, this is one of the best crime dramas we have seen in years.

The series takes us into the dark and violent world of Kolkata’s underworld. Crime and fear dominate the city, as one character even calls it the “City of Bhoy” (City of Fear).

A Powerful Start

The story begins with a shocking murder. Saptarishi (Parambrata Chatterjee), an honest cop, is brutally killed by gangster Bagha (Saswat Chatterjee) and his men. His death causes chaos in the city, and the police are forced to act. The tension keeps rising as the episodes progress.

Even though the series is long, it never feels boring. The storytelling is fast-paced, sharp, and free from unnecessary scenes. It gives us a raw and intense look at crime in Kolkata.

Strong Characters, But Not All Shine

The main character, Arjun Maitra (Jeet), steals the show. He plays a fearless and no-nonsense cop, reminding us of Amitabh Bachchan in Zanjeer. His performance is strong, intense, and completely believable.

Prosenjit Chatterjee plays Barun Roy, a corrupt and ruthless politician. He controls the Chief Minister and, in one shocking scene, even slaps him without hesitation. Barun is smart, opportunistic, and dangerous—he knows how to stay in power.

The two main villains, Sagor (Ritwik Bhowmik) and Ranjit (Adil Zafar Khan), bring a unique dynamic to the story. Sagor is calm and calculated, while Ranjit is wild and aggressive. However, Ranjit’s acting feels a bit over-the-top at times.

Chitrangda Singh plays Nivedita, an ambitious politician, but her performance feels out of place. She lacks the rawness needed for the role, making her character less convincing.

Memorable Supporting Cast

The female characters in this series make a strong impact. Sagor’s wife, Manjula (Shruti Das), and cop Aratrika (Aakansha Singh) leave a lasting impression. Even Mahaakshay Chakraborty, in a smaller role, delivers a solid performance.

One of the best moments of the series is Episode 5, where crime and punishment collide in a gripping sequence. The tension is at its peak, making it one of the most unforgettable episodes in crime drama history.

Final Verdict

Khakee: The Bengal Chapter is better than the Bihar Chapter. It has a tight story, strong performances, and intense action. Though some performances could have been better, the series remains riveting and highly entertaining.
