Mr. and Mrs. Mahi: This is undoubtedly a beautiful era of cinema, where films of every color are being made. One of these colors is that of a husband and wife who have given up on their dreams and become each other’s support and go to any extent to fulfill those dreams. Director Sharan Sharma has brought a similar story with the fresh pair of Rajkumar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, who have given up on their dreams and have joined the hustle and bustle of life, but then a passionate game like cricket brings them together at one point and not only brings them closer, but also becomes the reason for the victory of life.

Story of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’

The story begins with Mahendra (Rajkumar Rao) who lives in Jaipur. He has once played at the club level by hitting fours and sixes like MS Dhoni, but fails to reach the state and national level. When the father introduces son Mahendra as a successful businessman in front of Mahima’s family, Mahendra tells Mahima the truth that he is a loser in life. Impressed by his honesty, Mahima agrees to marry him. After marriage, Mahendra comes to know that like him, Mahima is not only crazy about cricket, but is also a dashing batsman. Under pressure from his father, he too had to become a doctor. Now he is trying his best to make Mahima a cricketer. But in this journey, Mahendra also has to go through his ego, pride, insecurity and self-realization of dreams.

‘Mr. and Mrs. Mahi’ Movie Review

Director Sharan Sharma may move ahead with the good intention of a husband pursuing his wife, but he takes so much time in establishing the characters and the story that the first half of the film becomes slow and cumbersome. The film picks up pace in the second half, when cricket becomes the basis of the story. But here Sharan Sharma has failed in showing the passion of a crazy game like cricket. However, he has succeeded in showing the emotions of hope, despair and insecurity.

The screenplay of the film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi could have been tightened. The dialogues are also average, but in terms of music, the songs ‘Dekha Tenu’, ‘Agar Ho Tum’ and ‘Roya Jab Tu’ have been made well. There are some issues in the film, which are worth paying attention to, why is it important for parents to know what is in the mind of children? And real happiness is not outside but within you.

The film is rich in terms of acting. Rajkumar Rao has once again blossomed with his talent as Mahendra. Despite being the hero, he has portrayed his arrogant and insecure grey side in a powerful way. This is Janhvi Kapoor‘s second film with director Sharan Sharma. Before this, she has worked with him in ‘Gunjan Saxena’. The director has extracted a good performance from her in this film as well. Janhvi has been completely honest with her role. Kumud Mishra, Zarina Wahab and Rajesh Sharma have been perfect in their roles.
