Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most famous actors of Bollywood at present. He is currently shooting for his film, Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan, which will release in 2027. Apart from this, Ranbir has the second parts of Ayan Mukherjee’s ‘Brahmastra’ and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal Park’. Amidst all this, an old interview of Ranbir went viral on social media, in which he talked about the ill-treatment meted out to him by ‘Hiramandi’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the shooting of Ranbir’s first film. Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor made their Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Saawariya’ released in 2007. However, much later, when Ranbir appeared on Neha Dhupia’s podcast ‘No Filter Neha’ in 2016, he opened up about himself. He shared his experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the shooting of his first film. Ranbir told how Sanjay had beaten him so much on the sets of the film that once he felt extremely tortured and wanted to leave the film.

Ranbir said, “He was a strict task-master and I was on my knees on the set, he was beating me… After a while it became so much and I felt so harassed that at one point I felt I had to leave the film. I think I had been on the job for 10 or 11 months and I felt like saying ‘Listen, I can’t do this, it’s getting to me.'”
Ranbir got a lesson
In the same conversation, the actor also revealed that Sanjay must have understood his sensitive and emotional part but still he kept on harassing him for it. Ranbir said that at one point during the shoot, the filmmaker was beating him like crazy. However, Ranbir said that Sanjay’s beating was just like an old school teacher who taught him everything when it came to acting.

People reacted to Bhansali’s mood
As soon as Ranbir and Neha’s chat interview surfaced on the Reddit platform, netizens started reacting to it. One social media user wrote, ‘He has issues. Working for them feels horrible. You don’t need to abuse people to get the best out of them’, another said, ‘No big deal as Richa said he breaks your ego. That may sound insulting. It is understandable why he still likes Salman so much. One said, ‘He abused Richa and threw a microphone at her because she was not stepping down.’
There was news of dating with Sonam
As soon as Sonam and Ranbir worked together in their film ‘Saawariya’, rumors started appearing in the media that they were dating. Years later, when Sonam appeared on the chat show ‘Koffee with Karan’, Karan asked her to rank in order of ‘sex appeal’ – Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham. On this the actress shared that she will keep Ranbir at number five. Revealing the reason behind this, the actress said that Ranbir is a great actor but not sexy.
