Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’ has spread a wonderful smile at the box office. On one hand, visually impaired businessman Srikanth said that this biopic is being praised a lot, on the other hand, the good thing is that its impact is visible at the ticket window as well. The film has collected a net of Rs 11.95 crore in its first weekend. Not only this, this film has earned more than double on the third day on Sunday as compared to the opening day. On the other hand, Hollywood film ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ has also earned Rs 11.77 crore in three days. Whereas the earnings of ‘Maidan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ have also improved on Sunday. ‘Srikanth’ made under the direction of Tushar Hiranandani can prove to be the next ’12th fail’ for Bollywood. This film is completely dependent on word of mouth and it is also benefiting from it. While on an average the audience was seen at more than 25% seats in ‘Srikanth’ shows on Sunday, the audience was seen at 37 seats out of 100 in the evening shows. However, the big need is that from Monday onwards the film should maintain its hold on weekdays also.

Box office collection of ‘Maidan’ and BMCM on 32nd day
‘Maidan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’, which are 32 days old, have also got the benefit of the weekend. Both these films released on Eid have proved to be disasters. On Sunday, Ajay Devgan’s ‘Maidan’ has earned Rs 53 lakh, while Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff’s ‘BMCM’ has made a business of Rs 21 lakh. While ‘Maidan’ has made a net collection of Rs 51.28 crore in the country in 32 days, ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ has done a total business of Rs 65.14 crore.
The entire box office is dependent on ‘Srikanth’
The thing to understand is that both the films ‘Maidan’ and ‘Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan’ have been badly rejected by the audience. However, since there is no other option in theatres, both these films are being shown on minimum number of screens. The earnings of both the films have been creeping since day one. In fact, before the weekend, BMCM’s earnings on Friday were Rs 5 lakh. Therefore, there is no further hope from these two.
