Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu is known for her bold and versatile roles. She was one of the first female stars in Bollywood to step into the action-spy thriller genre.

Today marks eight years since the release of Naam Shabana, a film where Taapsee impressed everyone with her action sequences and powerful performance. The movie followed Shabana, a young woman recruited by an intelligence agency, who undergoes intense training to take down a dangerous arms dealer.

Taapsee started her journey in action films with Baby, where she played a small but impactful role. The response to her character was so strong that the makers decided to create an entire film around her.

“The response that my character received in Baby made the filmmakers plan a film based on Shabana,” Taapsee shared.

Even Akshay Kumar, who starred alongside her in both films, praised her dedication to action roles.

“Taapsee did a tremendous job in Pink. I saw her fighting in Baby, and I have never seen a female do action scenes so perfectly,” Akshay said.

Why Taapsee Won’t Return to the Spy Thriller Genre

Taapsee believes she was ahead of her time when she did Naam Shabana.

“At that time, action spy thrillers were not popular. Now, everybody wants to do one. If I do it again, it would feel like repeating myself. I don’t want to spoil the impact of what I did years ago,” she explained.

Her Upcoming Action-Thriller Film ‘Gandhari’

Though she is not returning to the spy thriller genre, Taapsee is stepping back into action with her new film Gandhari.

In this intense thriller, she plays a mother who fights to rescue her abducted child. The film promises a raw and emotional experience, with Taapsee performing all her own stunts.

Gandhari is set to release later this year and is expected to be a gripping cinematic experience.
