Taha Shah Badussha, known for his charming personality in real life, is set to surprise audiences with his upcoming movie, PARO – The Untold Story of Bride Slavery. In this film, his role will completely change how viewers perceive him. Audiences will initially dislike his character but will later be moved to forgive him.
The movie shines a light on the struggles of PARO brides (also called Molki brides), who fall victim to the harmful practice of bride buying and slavery. The film was created by the talented Marathi actress, producer, writer, and social activist, Trupti Bhoir. It was first showcased at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2024, where it received great applause from the audience.
PARO was directed by Gajendra Ahire, a two-time National Award winner, known for his successful Marathi films Not Only Mrs. Raut (2003) and Shevri (2006). The film was produced by Sandesh Sharda. In the movie, Taha Shah Badussha plays Rashid, one of the husbands of Chand, the film’s main character. Rashid starts off as a man with no regrets, but as the story progresses, he faces challenges that make him change his ways and seek redemption.

Taha Shah Badussha shared his feelings about the film, saying, “When I first heard about PARO, it deeply affected me. I want to play roles that resonate with the audience, raise awareness, and bring about social change. I believe my role in PARO does just that. Everyone who has seen the film has been deeply moved, and that’s the kind of impact we aimed for.”
Recently, PARO was screened at Academy LA during Los Angeles Fashion Week. At this event, Trupti Bhoir also launched TARPA TRIBES, a brand created by her and her organization, SHELTER FOUNDATION. The foundation supports tribal women from remote villages in Palghar, Maharashtra, by providing them with jobs, shelter, and skill development opportunities.
PARO has been gaining critical acclaim at film festivals worldwide. The movie is expected to be released in India in the second half of 2025.
