Aamir Khan, one of Bollywood’s most respected actors, recently made a surprising revelation. At the WAVES Summit 2025 in Mumbai, he shared that his own father, despite being a film producer, did not want him to enter the film industry.
A Tough Start Against Family Wishes
During the event on May 4, 2025, Aamir Khan opened up about his early struggles. His father, Tahir Hussain, was a well-known film producer, and his uncle was a director-producer. Yet, his father did not support his dream of becoming an actor.
Aamir explained that he had to make the decision against his family’s wishes. He said it wasn’t easy, as his father was a very strict and short-tempered man, and they hardly felt comfortable expressing their thoughts to him.

Even Tennis Was Taken Away
Aamir also talked about his school days. He had a strong passion for tennis and used to play for 4–5 hours a day. But things changed when he failed in several subjects at school. After that, his father banned him from playing tennis, and Aamir had to quit the sport he loved.

At the summit, Aamir also highlighted important issues in Indian cinema. He pointed out the lack of cinema halls across the country and suggested that more investment is needed in theatres. According to him, building more cinemas will allow more people to enjoy films on the big screen.

Aamir is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film “Sitare Zameen Se,” which is set to release on June 20, 2025. The film stars Genelia D’Souza alongside Aamir in the lead role.
This movie is said to be a sequel to the 2007 hit film Taare Zameen Par. The original film featured Darsheel Safary, Vipin Sharma, and Tisca Chopra in major roles and was widely praised for its emotional depth and powerful message.
