Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil Plot
Guruvayur Ambalanadayil plays Veenu, played by Basil Joseph, a young NRI who is preparing to tie the knot with Anjali (Anaswara Rajan) after a failed romance with his ex-girlfriend Parvathy . Vinu forms a close relationship with Anjali’s elder brother, Anand (Prithviraj), whom he views as an elder brother. As their bond grows stronger, Vinu asks Anand to reconcile with his wife with whom Anand had separated. Vinu later learns the truth that Anand’s wife is none other than Vinu’s ex-girlfriend Parvati (Nikhil Vimal).

This revelation turns their relationship into bitter rivalry, with Anand conspiring with his sister Anjali to thwart Veenu’s marriage. Vinu remains firm in his determination to marry Anjali at the same time when he is convinced that Anjali is the love of his life. The film then explores the growing conflict between once close friends, while also adding a touch of humor to the family feud.

What works in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil
Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is a complete value-for-money entertainer that follows Priyadarshan’s classic comedy films of the 90s and 2000s in Mollywood. Humor is the backbone of this film, thanks to Vipin Das and writer Deepu Pradeep, known for Kunjiramayanam.

Humor flows easily in the story. The film features a variety of fun characters with top-notch comedic qualities, and most of the funniest scenes really come through.

What doesn’t work in Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil
Guruvayoor Ambalanadayi could not repeat the magic of Vipin Das’s previous outing with Basil Joseph Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, which had a more organic approach to satirical comedy.

In Guruvayur Ambalanadayil, the humor often feels forced. Also, the overuse of cinema references takes away the overall enjoyment of the film. The repetition of these references also occasionally hinders the mood and prevents the film from reaching its maximum potential.

The film lacks the Midas touch evident in Vipin Das and Deepu Pradeep’s other works, so it doesn’t make the same impact. Also, Ankit Menon’s music does not leave any lasting impact, which further increases the disappointment.

Demonstration in Guruvayur Ambalanadayil
In Guruvayoor Ambala Nadayil, Prithviraj surprises the audience with a never seen before comedy avatar and delivers a good comic performance throughout the film. On the other hand, Basil Joseph portrays the character of Vinu in his own style and shows his talent as he did in his previous roles in films like Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey, Falimi and Jane Man. The strong acting of the lead characters is the backbone of this film.

Although the film’s heroines Anaswara Rajan and Nikhila Vimal have performed well, there is not much depth in their roles. Yogi Babu’s Malayalam debut is forgettable as his comedy numbers fail to elicit laughs.

Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’s decision
Guruvayur Ambalanadayil may not be the type of comedy film that will appeal to everyone, especially if you are expecting another Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey from the director.

Still, there are aspects to the film that may draw families to theaters. Prithviraj’s delightful portrayal of the comic character is definitely noteworthy. However, the film may be worth watching only once at most.
