Shekhar Suman remembers the time when Amitabh Bachchan was tagged as a constipated actor
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, filmmaker-turned-actor Shekhar Suman shared some interesting but unheard stories about Amitabh Bachchan. He said that before becoming a superstar, there was a time when many filmmakers had termed Big B as a ‘constipated actor’, due to which his career sank and he lost many opportunities. He said:

I was listening to an interview of Bachchan sahab, and he said that in the first few years, 13-14-15 of his films flopped. And the directors, without naming him, used to call him ‘that constipated actor.”

Amitabh Bachchan was thrown out of the studio for his tall height and constipated look
Continuing his revelations, Shekhar Suman revealed that he got a lesson from Shashi Kapoor about how Amitabh Bachchan was once completely thrown out of the studio. Apparently, the makers were annoyed by Big B’s presence and immediately labelled him a ‘constipated actor’ who had come in for work. He also revealed how All India Radio had kicked Amitabh out of the show because of his raspy, heavy voice. In his words:
I believe this to be true because Shashi Kapoor told me. He said that later there were producers who couldn’t work without him, but he was the one who was saying, ‘Oh my God, this constipated-looking actor is back looking for work. Get him out of the set, who let him in?’. When he auditioned to be a news reader, All India Radio rejected him because of his heavy voice. What an irony! They said he didn’t have a good voice, some people said he was too tall.”
Amitabh Bachchan was insulted using abusive words for his looks
Concluding his thoughts, Shekhar Suman revealed that even after being thrown out of the studio, Amitabh Bachchan had to face further humiliation and insult. This happened when someone from the studio came to him in his car and scolded him with unnecessary abusive words, saying that the actor should never come back for an acting opportunity. Shekhar said:
He said he came out of the studio and got into his car, his parents were sitting behind him. A man came and knocked on the window, and he abused in pure Hindi, and said, ‘Who asked you to come here? Have you seen your face? Go back to where you came from’. Can you imagine?”
